Butterbredt Cotton Canvas Canopy
With the Mojave Desert in our backyard, the DOS team is always cautious about sun overexposure. Pop-up canopies and roof rack awnings are popular ways to provide shade, but not everybody wants a roof rack, and both are bulky for the amount of shade they provide.
The Butterbredt Cotton Canvas Canopy by DOS is designed to provide ample sun protection in the smallest packed size possible. Weighing in at only 12lbs with poles, the Butterbredt Cotton Canvas Canopy lets you quickly provide shade at base camp without tying your vehicle down.
The canopy’s hexagonal pattern enhances pitched stability, and the ember-resistant cotton canvas material is silent on breezy nights. All eight guyline attachment points are reinforced with heavy-duty stitching and steel tabs. 7 foot aluminum poles allow comfortable head clearance to fully stand under the canopy.

*Canvas fabrics require initial 'conditioning' against water. Sprinkle the tent down with water and let fully dry for the fibers to create a naturally watertight seal
Phenomenal experience, both customer service and product-wise.
(1) Customer service: product was ordered and this company shipped the next day with no issues on their end. But, porch pirates stole it a few hours after it delivered and 2 days before our Joshua Tree trip… When I told the company and re-ordered a new one this company (Preston & the shipping crew) literally bent over backwards to get it out the door the next AM and checked the delivery repeatedly to make sure it arrived in time (which it did on a Saturday night at 9pm!) Phenomenal customer service.
(2) Product: beautiful canopy, lightweight, extremely easy to set up and gave the top-cover we needed in Joshua Tree. It’s such an authentic piece of kit too that harkens back to days past desert journeys…I loved sitting underneath it in the morning and evenings after long days of hiking, the Sun hitting the material was really beautiful in the AM/late PM light; high quality shelter is one thing nobody should be without, especially in the desert.
I did quite a bit of canopy research prior to buying and although there are many products similarly priced, I can honestly say from this experience the quality of not only the DOS canopy far exceeds whatever else is out there, but the customer service will be far superior as well buying from DOS. This is a wonderful company.

Packaging is compact, easy to take it with you anywhere and easy to set up. Durable material and really stable in windy environment. Forsure aesthetically pleasing!

I built a summer glampsite for my beach lot and bought this shelter to go in front of my canvas bell tent. I just love it! It was easy to set up, and I had to move it a few times to get it right and it was easy to move and adjust by myself. The poles are nice looking, and VERY strong. It has been up for 10+ days and even in 20+ mph winds and summer rains it did great. I seasoned the canvas and it repels water better than my bell tent does! I did have the stakes pull out of our soft ground once or twice, but I replaced the stakes with some heavy duty stakes and that did the trick. Wish I could buy a few of the poles on their own to use for other purposes- they are so strong, stable, and good looking! I bought some other tarp tent poles online and they bent in a day under the same stress the DOS poles have been enduring with no problem. This is an EXCELLENT product, and if you camp a lot you will find dozens of uses for this shelter. I am getting rid of my ez up and using this from now on!
